Bryce 2.0
Reading Krudd's blog made me nostalgic for the virtual Bryce version, circa 1996. This image was created by one of the early pioneers of Bryce, Chris Casady.

Wow, I had no idea the objects on the various Bryce boxes were all created using the product. This information would have been helpful during my CompUSA days.
Back then two young guys (they looked like students) tried to buy a copy of Bryce 2.0 when it first came out. Me being the MetaTools/MetaCreations fan I talked to them for at least half an hour about this wonderfully cool product. At the end of the conversation the topic of the various objects on the box cover came up. They asked if objects like the Tori Gate could be modeled in Bryce. I incorrectly told them it couldn't and had to be imported as a DXF object. I must have said this because I assumed Bryce was just a terrain creator and the DXF import was a new feature so thought that's what MetaTools was trying to showcase. You should have seen the look on their faces when I said this and they sadly put the box back on the shelf.
I've always felt bad about this since I never wanted to see MetaTools lose a sale, but after reading this link on how the Tori Gate was created, I feel even worse!
