iChat Problems

I've been having problems running iChat AV for that past few months which is the reason why I haven't been online at the typical Friday and Sunday night slot. As soon as I launch iChat, it opens for a second then immediately shuts down. I've tried reinstalling just that app using a third party utility which extracts individual applications from the OS X DVD but it still fails. I was happy to report that the latest OS X 10.4.3 briefly fixed the issue, then inexplicably it stopped working again.

The only help I could find online was a suggestion from an Apple support tech who suggested to reinstall the entire OS. Pretty drastic if you ask me, but I guess I'm due for another wax off, wax on.
