Star Wars HD Comparison

In what is probably the worse example of showing off the benefits of HD vs DVD quality, someone has posted a website that shows the differences using the classic Star Wars films. Although the HD shots look more detailed, he shows each shot with the same image size, which gives the illusion that DVD res (720 x 480i) will fill your display the same way as full HD (1920 x 1080p) would. Also the colors are brighter and the blacks darker in the DVD shots while the HD versions looked washed out. To most people this makes the DVD examples look better than the HD shots. I had to mouse around a few times to see which was which.

Clearly this proves that DVD is far superior to anything else that is available in the market. SD FTW!

Ok, so the one question I have is, what were his settings for each version of each movie? The brightness/contrast issue is easily settled if you adjust your settings on the monitor in use. You can't use a set adjustment on one movie that is sd and the same setting on an hd. If he did, then there is the discrepancy. You need to re-adjust those settings.

After that is solved, is there really any doubt how much better the hd quality is? Nice!

Oh yeah, the same goes for color adjustments.
